Reiki

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

Reiki is Japanese energy healing that was discovered in the 20th century. Reiki means universal life force, or the energy that is in all living things. Its purpose is to balance all 7 chakras (energy centers that run along the spine from the tailbone to the crown of the head). Each chakra has its own function and purpose and they maintain mind-body-spirit balance. When they become blocked, there is an imbalance in the body, which leads to disease.

Reiki works by harnessing the universal life force energy that is in all of us. I become a conduit for the energy. Anyone can harness reiki after an attunement and it can be transmitted through long distances. You can give reiki to yourself, plants, animals, or inanimate objects. I give distance reiki by picturing specific reiki symbols and keeping the person who is receiving reiki in my mind during the whole session. In person reiki is given by placing hands on the chakra points or hovering the hands over the chakra points.

5 reiki precepts that are helpful for everyone:

Just for today….

  1. I will not worry.

  2. I will not be angry.

  3. I will be grateful.

  4. I will do my work honestly.

  5. I will be kind to every living thing.
